The Othrin

In the shadows there is an saying “As foolish as the Othrin” and to be called by that name is a great insult among the spirits. For unlike normal spirits that exist forever unless something interferes the Otrhin committed suicide for a human.

The story of the Othrin spirit.
A very long time ago when the shadow was more free to cross the gauntlet a spirit with the emotion of generosity crossed into the world of men and was soon captured by a Mage. The mage held the spirit captive until the spirit asked the mage what he wanted. The mage smiled “I want to see and hear it all.” The spirit smiled and reached into its head and pulled out its’ own eye then severed its’ own ear. When it handed these to the mage they changed the eye became stone and the ear became crystal. The mage took these and left. He came back the next day. “I can see my entire palace from here in the cells. I can hear my counsel men even when I am miles away. These are truly great gifts but if I am to rule I need more.” The spirit again asked the mage what he wanted. “I want nothing to escape or hide from my grasp everything that is mine must stay mine and I must be able to claim it all.” The spirit severed its’ own hand and gave it to the mage. It became a back glove. The mage took it and left only to return hours latter and grab the spirit by the neck. “I want to live forever and you will give me your eternal life.” The spirit looked at him. “look at me.. I have given you all I can give you is that not enough? I will give you my eternal life but first I will make sure the world knows what a monster you are.” The spirit tore its own face clean off and forced it onto the mage, It turned his face into a metal monstrosity only a savage would like. The spirit then tore out its’ coaler bone and thrust it onto the mages neck and ended its’ own life. They may have been altered to sell since that day but these evil items are still around and to the one who has them all… your sanity is the spice for your immortality, Using these items comes at no small cost for a mortal. You must kill for the eye and ear and if you can kill two men for your own life then maybe the rest will not be so bad for you after all. The hand is uncontrollable and what you can touch can touch you as well such a glove is often found in the shadows attached to a severed arm as no spirit wants to be handled by mortals. The Mask of Pray drives anyone who wears it into a blood crazed frenzy and the life protector comes with the memory of the spirit that gave its life and anyone who puts it on normally loses a little bit of themselves to it.
Now a day these items are known only to spirits or very researched individuals specifically looking for immortality at all costs.
